No Good Samaritan laws exist in many Asian countries. I find this appalling, frightening and not in line at all with our Catholic social teaching. Thank the Lord for people like Blessed Mother Theresa and the Sisters of Mercy who fight in the trenches to help the poor wretched who nobody else wants to touch. By our Baptism, we are all called to lend a hand to our brothers and sisters even in socially awkward situations like our prisons and mental institutions. Rapists, murderers, pedophiles, and psychotics need God's healing touch just as much as the unborn, the eldery, the physically disabled and mentally challenged.

Do I want to be healed? Yes! Do I desire ongoing conversion in my life? Absolutely! Am I willing to help someone I may feel uncomfortable with? Yes, but it would be quite difficult. The Corporal and Spiritual Acts of Mercy gives us the strength, through the Holy Spirit, to help others even in uncomfortable situations and conditions.

I certainly hope this elderly woman took your words to heart and reached back out to her family. That would truly be a way of healing herself and her anxieties about all of the world's problems. I totally agree that we must find always strive to find peace within ourselves, our families, and our lives.

Thank-you for another thought-provoking meditation

++Blessings!

-JenniferJennifer B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15338737502809429613noreply@blogger.com
