Luke 9:28b-36 It is good to be here
What you see is what you get! The Lord shines in all his splendor, glory and majesty. “The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth” (Ps 97:1a). He is the living God, the Son of God and the Son of man. His splendor shines upon us. His glory is our victory. His majesty magnifies our worth. Today, the Father reveals to us that it is worthwhile to save man. It is something “very good.”
Christ reveals his glory: In preparation for his passion, Christ revealed to the apostles his true inner being, his strength. The shock that they experience today will offset the shock they will experience later on. “It is good to be here.” But in reality, it is always good to be where ever the Lord is, whether he has me wrapped around his arms or nailed to a cross next to him. Where ever he is, there I want to be! This is life, and this is the life of the patriarchs, the prophets and the saints. His Will is my will - an undivided unity - two becoming one - a marriage made in heaven.
Christ reveals the Trinity: “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.” The Father speaks, the Son listens, and the Holy Spirit descends like a cloud casting a shadow upon all those who believe. God is a communion of beings, of persons, of love that radiates across the horizon. The Trinity is a mystery but it manifests itself in many ways: through the human family – Father, Mother, and child; through love – Lover, Beloved, and Love; through Creativity - Thought, Word and Action. This is the life of God and the life of man. Through God’s overflowing love, man was created in his image and likeness and to go and bear much fruit. James, Peter and John, the three, are one in their love for the Lord and for all mankind. They will dedicate and devote their lives to bringing us the faith, healing our wound and restoring our life by Christ’s love, word and action. As Fulton Sheen would say, “Life is worth living.” It is very good to be here.
Christ reveals our mission: “Beloved: We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty” (2 Pt 1:16). "Those who say that Christ stands side by side with similar myths, and his religion side by side with similar religions, are only repeating a very stale formula contradicted by a very striking fact: The Incarnation." (G.K. Chesterton). Peter relates in his letter the great things that God has done for him and for the world. Another Peter, John Paul II, would say the following: “Mission means communicating to others the reasons for your own conversion.” Nothing is more compelling than a sinner transfigured into Christ. He is the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
Today, let us heed the words of Peter and “be attentive to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts." You have been called to herald in a new day.

I never realized the power of thoughts, words and actions, but upon reflection, it seems that they are the foundation that move change, progress or regression in this world.
Wow, we all have the power to effect the world in a positive or negative way.
It seems like we are either bearing good fruit or bad, if we are thinking, talking and moving, we are bearing some kind of fruit.
I've got to be more conscience of what kind of fruits I'm bearing. Unfortunately, they're not all good:(
I was having a deja vu moment there when I was reading this morning. Repetition is good. Repetition is very good. In fact repetition is necessary to get the message, (for most).
ReplyDeleteHalf a year has gone by and many things have changed and yet remain the same. I can look back and see my progress in this journey.
It is amazing how much we can see when a little light is turned on. And as the light becomes brighter, even better, but also, when the light gets brighter you can see the flaws, the dust bunnies, the cobwebs, etc..
I feel like I've been walking through an old house this past year and the Lord has been flipping switches on as I walk through and enter each new room. There's been a lot of illumination in a short amount of time and the shock of the bright lights have taken time to adjust to. But I'm getting used to it and I'm trying to focus on what He is asking me to focus on, not the little stuff that catches my eye. That is a distraction from the devil. And he has been distracting me more than ever before in my life.
God has given us a lot of power with our thoughts, words and actions. We also have power over the devil through Him. But we must utilize these gifts in a way that is fulfilling His will for us or we're just wondering around lost, wasting time, energy and grace, producing bad fruit.
One thing I've learned over this past half year is that it takes time to see the fruit and even longer to harvest it. And sometimes it may look like no fruit or even bad fruit will be produced but it can take a turn and become the most beautiful, abundant harvest imaginable.
I'm not exactly seeing any fruit yet, but I am seeing the buds forming, I'm seeing little signs of life that previously weren't there.
He is consoling me with the assurance that the 'manure pitching' that I've been doing will pay off down the road.
I pray that I can keep the faith and be obedient to the end so that I will be with Him where ever He is for eternity.
